How to install a 500w inverter

Installing an inverter in your vehicle allows you to use your 12V battery power and turn it into 240V AC just like your power points at home. PARTS REQUIRED	Adventure Kings 500W Pure Sine Wave Inverter, Adventure Kings 50A Wiring Kit (optional for extra wiring and terminals)
TOOLS REQUIRED	Crimper, wire stripper, screwdriver, socket, 13mm & 14mm spanners, drill, heat gun or lighter, marker

PROJECT OVERVIEW

STEP 1

Disconnect any power going to/from your battery to make sure nothing is live whilst you’re working. Remove the fuse from the fuse holder until the wiring is complete.

STEP 2

Mount the inverter to the desired location. To do so, use a marker to mark where the slots on the back of the inverter are and drill pilot holes. Fix the unit into place using screws or nuts & bolts – this process may vary slightly due to where you are fitting the unit.

STEP 3

In this video we have extended the wiring to add a 50AMP fuse. To do this, we had to replace the M8 terminals which come standard on the included wiring to M6 terminals to suit the fuse holder. Then, we measured how much extra wire we needed between the battery and fuse holder. Cut the extra wire to the desired length, put terminals on either end and connect this to the fuse holder.

STEP 4

Next, remove the protective covers off the inverter’s heavy duty terminals and add the wires to the bolt - connect positive to positive, and negative to negative. Then put everything back together, making sure you put the protective covers over the wires so you can clip them back on. Use a spanner to tighten up the bolts.

STEP 5

Using a 13mm socket, connect the wiring to the battery. Positive to red and Negative to black.

STEP 6

Lastly, add the fuse into your circuit and tighten the terminals onto the fuse holder. Then, press the power button and now you’re ready to run your 240V necessities!
