A Kings 12v drawer fridge freezer is designed to operate on low power, and the power consumption will vary depending on a number of factors which affect all portable fridge makes and models. Factors such as the internal set temperature, the ambient temperature inside your car or caravan, and how many items have been loaded into the fridge or freezer will impact the energy efficiency. The hotter it is outside or the more items stored inside the harder the compressor needs to work to keep the inside cold. In general, a Kings 12v drawer fridge will average between about 1.1 to 1.4 amps per hour (depending on the model chosen) with the drawer fridge set at 3°C in a 32°C ambient temperature.

Can refrigerator drawers replace a refrigerator?

Yes! The Kings 12v drawer fridge range has been designed in Australia for Australian conditions, whether it be hot summer days or 4x4 adventures. You can set the 12v fridge drawer to a range of temperatures from +10°C down to icy temps of -10°C, which gives you the option to run it as a fridge or freezer. This level of flexibility allows the Kings drawer fridge to suit your adapting needs, from trip to trip or even day to day no matter where you are. The choice is yours.

Are drawer fridge freezer easy to fit?

Connecting a Kings drawer fridge up is super simple thanks to the pre-wired heavy duty Quick Connect plug, it’s Anderson compatible and means that you can plug the drawer fridge freezer straight into a Kings battery box or 12v control box.

DIY install is super easy, there are 4 threaded mounting points on top as well as 4 points on either side, and each Kings 12v drawer fridge comes with 4 mounting brackets and bolts, ready to mount into just about any set up.

How long do drawer fridges last without mains power?

A Kings drawer fridge is 12v or 24v DC only. There is an Anderson style power connector at the rear of the fridge to make connection easy. This heavy-duty connector is designed for long term and high-power applications.

The preferred method to power up your 12v drawer fridge is to install 12v auxiliary battery and battery isolator system. This allows you to use a deep cycle battery which is designed to handle being continuously discharged and recharged unlike your average cranking battery. Your average 100Ah deep cycle battery should be able to power your modern day fridges for around three days without recharging, but this depends on the size of your drawer fridge, the temperature and how often you open and close the fridge door. With an auxiliary battery, you’ll still be able to start your 4WD if the auxiliary battery is run flat.
